Show of the Week: Elite Dangerous and 5 Humiliating Ways to Die in Space

Now Elite Dangerous on Xbox One has drawn level with the feature set of the PC version, you can fly in co-op wings with your friends rather than plodding the trade routes alone, which wasn't possible when the game first arrived in Game Preview. You can also join a faction to take part in the same Power Play meta game in which the PC space pirates are participating.

The biggest addition to Elite Dangerous in its Game Preview phase was Close Quarters Combat multiplayer mode, which debuted on Xbox One and let you die of space without having travel tens of light years for the privilege.

At least that's a nobler death than many we've suffered while heroically exploring the galaxy, such as when we failed to eat a packet of peanuts at the exact right time in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and died of protein loss as a side effect of teleportation.

Or there was the time we let Commander Shepard have space sex with lethally mutated Ardat-Yakshi Morinth in Mass Effect 2. And let's not forget all the times we got Isaac Clarke bisected by an automatic door. Relive our embarrassment in the video above.
