Much like Mass Effect, FIFA 17 The Journey has a conversation wheel that lets you decide how to handle a situation. Do you go for the fiery option and come off as a hothead? Or play it cool and seem detached? You could alternatively go for the balanced choice but honestly this is football, not space diplomacy. Yell at those jerks.

As you play, you take Hunter through his exit trial from the academy, decide which club to join, and be thrown into your first pro appearances, at which you must meet certain goals in order to keep climbing the pro football ladder.

Our first match, against Paris Saint-Germain in Seattle, asks us to finish with a match rating over 8.0, to create two chances, and to win the game, goals we mostly spectacularly fail to achieve. Still, it all adds to the drama, and at the end of the day, isn’t that what football is really all about? I’m sure Arsene Wenger would agree.
