Show of the Week reviews Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, in which we thin the Nazi ranks back as loveable meathead BJ Blazkowicz back in 1946. Subscribe for more: www.tinyurl.com/SubToOxbox

Because this standalone expansion was originally designed as two DLC packs, The New Blood is split into two interconnected stories. In the first you infiltrate the classic Castle Wolfenstein, in the second you romp through a German village. In both you shoot very many Nazis (some are robots, others are zombies).

If you enjoyed Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Old Blood comes recommended as an affordable new chunk of the same. The character moments and story material that freshened the previous game have been dialled down, but we're still glad to be back in the Nazi-stomping boots of BJ Blazkowicz.

Speaking of silly names, Show of the Week then stacks the improbable moniker of Wolfenstein's lantern-jawed hero up against some of the rest of videogames' equally ridiculous handles. Take Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker's "Hot Coldman", for instance, which is at least as much self-contradicting nonsense as "standalone expansion".
