AION 2 Character Creation Is Nuts

AION 2 is a new Korean high fantasy MMORPG from NCSoft that initially launched in Korea and Taiwan in November 2025 and is now preparing for its global release on October 5th 2026, with early access beginning September 30th for players with a Founder's Pack.
Built in Unreal Engine 5, AION 2 features a seamless open world, fast paced hybrid combat and a massive focus on flight, exploration and character progression. The game has eight playable classes including Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter, with a progression structure that reminded me quite a bit of Lost Ark.
For PvE players there's multiplayer dungeons, solo dungeons, boss challenges, 10 player raids, world bosses, invasion events, open world exploration, hourly minigame events as well as gathering, crafting, cooking, alchemy and creature taming.
For PvP you've got arenas, battlegrounds and The Abyss, a massive faction vs faction PvP zone where Elyos and Asmodians fight over territory, artifacts and bosses with aerial combat also playing a major part.
AION 2 is free to play with an optional subscription, battle pass and cash shop, although monetization is definitely one of my biggest concerns considering NCSoft's history with pay to win MMORPGs.
Going into this playtest I had basically zero expectations but after around 8 hours playing both Sorcerer and Assassin I was actually pleasantly surprised. The combat was much more fun than I expected, the progression constantly gave me something new to unlock, the world can look absolutely gorgeous and most importantly AION 2 actually feels MASSIVELY multiplayer.
That being said, there were definitely things I disliked, especially the mobile feeling camera and movement, extremely short flight duration, easy quest bosses and the lingering concern that NCSoft could eventually crank up the P2W.
In this video I'll be giving my AION 2 first impressions after playing the global playtest, showing you the gameplay, combat, classes, leveling, dungeons, bosses, flying, open world and progression before finishing with a full pros and cons list.
