The new free Discovery Tour mode in Assassin’s Creed Origins makes history fun by letting you clamber all over it dressed as an Egyptian Pharaoh. We did exactly that and, in the spirit of historical research. now present the eight weirdest things we learned while playing. Subscribe for more Assassin's Creed Origins gameplay!

For example, Khufu was the pharaoh buried in the Great Pyramid. What’s weird about Khufu’s final resting place in the Great Pyramid, however, is that although his coffin has been found, his body remains missing to this day.

The coffin was listed as being empty when it was discovered, and its design indicates that there was once a lid in place. Discovery Tour offers the possibility that the sarcophagus is only a cenotaph in memory of the pharaoh, and was never meant to receive the body.

I, however, am here to posit the alternate theory that Khufu punched his way out of his coffin and now roams the earth menacing people with his good friends Dracula and the Wolfman. You decide which you think is more plausible out of these, the only two possibilities.

Assassin’s Creed Origins’ Discovery Tour mode drops as a free update for the main game on 20 February 2018.
