Today I tried Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PlayStation 5 — not on a high-end PC, not on Xbox, but on a borrowed PS5.
The goal was simple:
find out what actually works, what doesn’t, and who the PS5 version is really for.
In this hands-on breakdown, I cover:
First impressions and install size on PS5
Streaming world performance, LOD pop-in, and texture loading
How the DualSense controller feels for cockpit interaction
Haptics, adaptive triggers, and immersion while flying
Performance targets (resolution, frame pacing, stutter)
Flying airliners vs GA aircraft on a controller
Peripheral support (HOTAS, pedals, limitations)
Differences between PS5 and PC ecosystems
Marketplace add-ons vs PC mods and freeware
Who should buy the PS5 version — and who shouldn’t
This isn’t a PC replacement — and it’s not trying to be.
But what surprised me was how complete and playable the couch experience feels.
The flight model, weather system, avionics, and global world are intact.
The trade-offs come from streaming, platform restrictions, and third-party support — not from the core simulation itself.
If you want modern flight simulation without building a PC, the PS5 edition is a genuinely compelling option.
If you rely on heavy modding, custom airports, or full hardware cockpits, PC still wins.
???? Is Flight Simulator 2024 on PS5 good enough for you?
???? Would you fly on console or stick with PC?
