You can't convince me that the devs didn't know exactly what they were doing when they had Sam Lake wear an outfit highly similar to that of Max Payne's in Max Payne 2; voiced by James McCaffrey; with lines exactly like what Max would say, as well as the billboards containing Max Payne meta like "Hardboiled" and "A Cold Day In Hell" - the title of a chapter in Max Payne.
