Show of the Week inspects open-world racer Forza Horizon 2 and the Horizon festival: the Mediterranean paradise for music-loving petrolheads around which Forza Horizon 2 takes place. If it turns out to be a literal paradise because you died in a car ferry accident on your way to Italy, I will be only half-surprised. How else to explain the festival PR, who has the voice and likeness of 90s pop heartthrob Sean Maguire and dishes out free supercars like promotional tote bags? Answer me that, Show of the Week.
The occasional pissing rain, rendered in the same eye-widening fidelity as the rest of this gorgeous-looking game, is the only evidence in favour of the idyllic, overfunded Horizon festival not being the afterlife for well-behaved motoring enthusiasts.
Otherwise, the abridged region of Northern Italy and Southern France in which the game takes place is a kind of happy hunting ground for car lovers, three times bigger than the Colorado of the first Forza Horizon and much more open.
Plus, even unskilled racers such as Andy (see video above) will enjoy off-roading through those olive groves with Forza Horizon 2's more straightforward handling and frictionless online multiplayer, as examined in Show of the Week.
