In Quantum Break, an experimental time machine rips the space-time continuum a cataclysmic new one. If only protagonist Jack Joyce had learned the lessons of videogame history: mucking about with time travel never pays off, except in really terrible alternate futures. Consider Day of the Tentacle, in which one of your playable teens ends up 200 years in the future where humans have been enslaved by tentacles, thanks to one of those time machine accidents that are so popular nowdays.

Heed the warning also of Back to the Future 2 on the Amiga, in which the vision of future year 2015 somehow managed to be even bleaker than the one from the movie.

Doc and Marty have been replaced by half-melted waxworks of themselves, as you can see in the video above, while the poorly maintained streets are full of sentient trashcans that want to kill you, in addition to the expected gangs of murderous hoverboarders.

Quantum Break comes out on Xbox One and PC on release date 5 April 2016.
