Soulframe is an upcoming free-to-play co-op action RPG from Digital Extremes, the developers behind Warframe, and after multiple major updates I’m finally revisiting the game to answer one question: is Soulframe actually good now?
I previously covered an early build of Soulframe back in March 2025, and while I was impressed with the game’s direction at the time, it was clearly still very early. Since then, Soulframe has received multiple updates that expanded the world, added new systems, weapons, pacts, bosses, factions, fast travel, runes, totems, and much more.
In this video, I’m taking a deep dive into Soulframe Preludes 12, the latest pre-alpha test build, to see how the game feels today. We’ll be looking at the combat, open world design, build customization, faction system, world bosses, dungeons, and whether Soulframe is starting to feel like a real game rather than just a tech demo or tutorial sandbox.

Soulframe Preludes 12 is still very much pre-alpha, with the current playable area acting as a large tutorial island where you can experiment with different pacts, level up, clear procedurally generated dungeons, fight bosses, farm world events, craft weapons and armor, and test different builds. It’s not a complete experience yet, but it’s big enough now to start judging the game’s long-term potential.

I also talk about:
- The removal of ultimate abilities and how that impacts combat
- The new Rune and Totem system and build depth
- Faction quests and progression
- The confusing new player experience
- World bosses, sieges, and open-world encounters
- Fast travel, exploration, and map size
- Why mounts still aren’t in the game yet, but are planned for the future

Overall, I’m still cautiously optimistic about Soulframe. The content expansion is real, the systems are getting deeper, but there are still some missing pieces that hold it back from feeling truly complete.
