After a memorable crash landing in last year's Superman, Milly Alcock is back as Kara Zor-El in Supergirl, her first solo adventure in the James Gunn DCU. Directed by Craig Gillespie, this hard-drinking version of Woman of Tomorrow is a grab bag of influences from True Grit, Mad Max, Guardians of the Galaxy and, as any self-respecting film with practical makeup effects for a menagerie of alien extras should be, Star Wars. While Alcock is great and Jason Momoa as Lobo is as fun as we thought he'd be, the movie might actually take a little too literally from these influences. IGN's Clint Gage reviews Supergirl and talks about superhero alter egos, flashbacks vs chronological order and why the future is bright for Kryptonians on the big screen.
