Expedition 33, Arc Raiders, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (and others) are the harbingers of a new standard which will hopefully become increasingly common as more breakout publishers adopt beneficial business structures that support truly creative products.

Big names like Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and Bungie have dominated the space for a long time, but smaller, more nimble development teams have the option to retake the high ground by avoiding the pitfalls and bloat of major publishing brands.

of course major Media publications will still exist, and huge titles like GTA 6 will still facilitate a price increase, but the foundation is set for something smaller, and better... because something the industry has clearly forgotten, is that smaller does not necessarily mean worse.
