This is How a Dragon Will Wreck Your S**t in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragons are the apex predators in the world of Dragon Age: Inquisition and that makes you the bottom of the food chain when you're beginning the game and exploring the scenic Hinterlands. Fight a dragon as a level four mage in Dragon Age: Inquisition and it will mess you up.

Not that this Fereldan Frostback in Lady Shayna's Valley seems to have any interest in eating you, unless it's doing all those deadly fireballs to cook you first?

The Dragon Age: Inquisition gameplay above features the very first dragon you encounter in combat in Dragon Age: Inquisition, down in Lady Shayna's valley in The Hinterlands.

You might recognise it from an early gameplay presentation from developer BioWare, also seen above, in which a level seven Inquisitor and party just about hold their own against this 200-ton flying flamethrower.

Notice how they can survive a direct fireball hit, just about, and live long enough to target individual dragon limbs with Inquisition's fancy new dragon combat.

By way of comparison, and to give you an idea of the ferocity and toughness of Dragon Age: Inquisition's dragon enemies, the gameplay above shows our level four human mage, a couple of hours into the game, being more or less killed in a single hit. And one time it collapsed a cliff on top of my horse.

This encounter begins at the top of the valley near an Inquisition camp, where you encounter dragonlings who are level 12. You can murder these, or try to, if you really want to piss off the mummy dragon while she does strafing runs over your head.

To reach a ground fight with the frostback, who is several levels higher than the dragonlings, you'll have to proceed way down Lady Shayna's Valley, past the baby dragons, to the open area which appeared in the gameplay demo from BioWare.
