World Of Warcraft Forever might finally bring me back to WoW, but there’s one part of Blizzard’s Classic Plus direction that I’m genuinely concerned about. In this video I explain what WoW Forever is, why its approach to progression has me excited about the future of MMORPGs, and what Blizzard needs to get right.

WoW Forever builds on Vanilla World Of Warcraft with a permanent level 60 cap and a focus on horizontal progression rather than constantly replacing everything you’ve already worked towards. Scheduled to launch on November 4th, 2026, it brings over 1,000 new quests, new zones and dungeons, profession changes, the account-wide Legacy system and two new raids, with more content planned.

I originally built this channel around World Of Warcraft, but over the years Old School RuneScape became my main MMORPG because I could take a break, play other games and return without feeling like my progress had been thrown in the bin. The biggest reason I’m excited for WoW Forever isn’t one particular dungeon or raid, it’s the possibility of finally getting that same feeling of permanence in Azeroth.

The new Legacy system gives you account-wide progression through activities like levelling, professions and exploration, whilst campfires create opportunities for players to stop, share buffs and actually talk to each other. Combined with new quests and more exploration-focused dungeons, there’s a lot here that sounds like the kind of MMO experience I’ve been missing.

That being said, this isn’t just a hype video. I discuss the beta feedback around levelling speed, class balance and early gear, the potential problems with megaserver layering, and why keeping the level cap at 60 won’t mean much if future updates still create massive gear gaps.

My biggest concern is the art direction. The new lighting, fog, water and environmental effects look amazing, but some of the new creatures, armour and other assets look too much like Retail WoW next to the original Vanilla world. I also discuss TheoryWise’s video on this subject and why I think keeping a consistent Classic WoW art style matters for the game’s long-term future.

Could WoW Forever actually help revive interest in the MMO genre? If Blizzard can keep older content relevant, protect meaningful progression and make the world feel social again, I think it could send a pretty important message. Respecting a player’s time doesn’t have to mean removing the grind, it can mean making sure that grind still matters years later.

Are you returning to World Of Warcraft for Forever, or thinking about trying WoW for the first time? Let me know what you’re most excited or concerned about in the comments.
