Dragon Age: Inquisition Fashion is Ridiculous and Amazing

In Dragon Age: Inquisition's system for crafting armour, plaideweave is a cheery yellow fabric that confers protection against electrical damage, among other things. It's like a magic tartan Faraday cage and every cloth wearer on Team Inquisition looks goddamn fabulous in it. In case wizard robes in yellow plaid aren't to your taste, self-appointed fashion police Mike and Andy craft their own garments in the video above, combining the rarest ores mined from Inquisition quarries with the finest skins flayed from Inquisition enemies.

In Inquisition, basic armour schematics are customised with a choice of materials and upgrades to create bespoke outfits of varying specifications and fabulosity. In the lurid varity of material combinations, and the way in which the same schematic produces entirely different looks on different characters, the system produces some eye-popping results.

The resulting compromise between efficacy and style is a delicate balance; electricty-proof plaideweave pajamas won't save you from a dragon that breathes ice, but do you want to win a fight wearing anything else? No, is the answer.
