Assassin's Creed Syndicate is less than a month away and this week we're all about its gang system, with which twins Jacob and Evie Frye take control of London's various gang territories. They also run everything from a train, the perfect excuse to revisit the most lavish locomotives in videogame history. Subscribe! http://www.tinyurl.com/SubToOxbox
Because videogames love a luxuriously appointed choo choo, it turns out. Take the Number 9 from Grim Fandango, a swish express train that takes four minutes to make the journey across the land of the dead instead of the usual four years. Barely worth sitting down, to be honest.
Consider also the Ecliptic Express from Resident Evil 0. It looks a bit run down now, yes, but that's because it's been overrun with zombies and leech eggs and gross stretchy-limbed businessmen monsters. Overlook that and you realise this is one seriously swanky train with a saloon, beautiful dining car and sleeper carriages that make the Hogwarts Express look like the back end of Snowpiercer.
