Lego games might seem to be for kids, but they work on so many levels that anyone can have some fun with them. Show of the Week gets to know Lego Marvel’s Avengers, and ponders why it is that great games starring the Avengers are rarer than a copy of Tales of Suspense issue 39 in mint condition. With this latest Lego game based on the two blockbusting Avengers movies, as well as elements of the two Captain America movies and second Thor movie, the cross-demographic appeal is strong with this one, because box office records show that everyone and their dog loves the Avengers.

It's also based on the third Iron Man film, but we won't hold that against it, if you don't hold it against us that we said cross-demographic just then.

Whatever happens, it’s bound to be better than most games starring the Avengers, which include Spider-Man and Captain America in Dr Doom’s Revenge, in which Captain America gets repeatedly piledrivered by an angry Gorilla. You won’t see that in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. I mean, presumably.
