Mass Effect Andromeda steps away from the original trilogy to tell a new story and, more importantly, gives you a new planetary rover in which to tootle around: the Nomad. This is important because, unlike the M35 Mako vehicle of Mass Effect 1, the Nomad is a boss. Discover five reasons why and subscribe for this show weekly: http://www.tinyurl.com/SubToOxbox
You can customise the way the Nomad looks, for starters, transforming it from factory default white with a skin that Pimp My Ride's producers might have rejected for being too flashy.
The most baller of all the Nomad finishes is the platinum skin, which wraps your space buggy in a shiny layer of priceless precious metal. Considering how long we spent mining platinum in previous Mass Effect games, we can only imagine that costs as much as establishing a mid-sized off-world colony.
And planetary exploration is all well and good, but what if you encounter hostile aliens on your travels? There was a time you would have to get out your guns and shoot them all, using up precious resources and maybe getting shot yourself into the bargain.
Now, thanks to the Nomad, you don't even have to get out of your planetary rover to bump off hostile alien life. You can roadkill whatever exotic alien fauna dares hassle you, though you might want to invest in the red paint job if you don't want to be spending all your credits on space car washes.
Mass Effect Andromeda is out on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 21 March 2017 (North America) and 23 March 2017 (Europe).
