There are 20 playable operatives in Rainbow 6 Siege, split evenly between those with attacking and defending abilities.

Attackers come with a range of offensive abilities such as a cluster charge, which pumps five grenades through a wall into a room, changing it from a fortified stronghold into a room full of explosions and offal.

Defenders, on the other hand, come equipped with gadgets designed to give your team a tactical advantage. These are things such as a signal disruptor, which stops the enemy team remotely detonating explosives or using drones, or a cardiac sensor, which shows enemy movements.

The sledgehammer lets you breach walls "silently", it says, but I would definitely notice if a giant Rainbow operative smashed his way into the room with a hammer bigger than me.
