Open-world hacking adventure Watch Dogs 2 builds on the potential of the original Watch Dogs with verve and co-op, and teaches us valuable lessons in the art of breaching secure computer systems. Watch Dogs 2 hero Marcus Holloway may be a dab hand with a laptop and a smart phone but in Titanfall, for example, all it takes to hack something is a big knife.

Titanfall's "data knife" is a knife with electronic bits, basically, and when you stab computerised systems with it, they do what you want them to do. There'll be none of this faffing around with machine code and command prompts, not when you can convince a robot to do your bidding by persuasively stabbing it in the head.

You won't even need to bother with that if you want to hack the network of evil game studio Abstergo Entertainment from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

There, infiltrating confidential systems is as easy as walking up to your colleagues' computers and playing a game. But not like Minesweeper or Solitaire, or even one of the actual assassin-based games they spend all their time making, but more like one where you have to steer a dot through a moving maze or make a wiggly line out of other wiggly lines. Bet you wish you hadn't wasted all that time learning C++, hey?

Watch Dogs 2 is out now for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
