Halo Wars 2 is a Halo game in which instead of controlling one big space soldier, you control lots of little space soldiers from high above the battlefield. It's a real-time strategy game, yes. But aren't strategy games on consoles always terrible? Not always, as we discover in Show of the Week. Subscribe for this show every week! http://www.tinyurl.com/SubToOxbox
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, for instance, had a fine console version and that game is brilliant, not least because it spiced up its strategy gameplay with scenery-chewing performances from well-known actors such as Jonathan Pryce, Peter Stormare and Tim Curry.
Tom Clancy's R.U.S.E. on the other hand was an interesting twist on the genre in that the key to victory was lying until your pants were entirely aflame.
You could dupe your opponents into thinking you'd deployed units when you hadn't, futz with what they can see on the map, or sneakily uncover information for yourself. Although they still never did explain what R.U.S.E. stood for.
