Storm spirit is a great snowball hero, that with good decision making and decent mechanics, can get to the late game fairly easily. If your opponent doesn't have many stuns, you can also get pretty deep into the late game and have a fun time.
Your first major item should either be an Orchid or Bloodstone, and afterwards you pick up items depending on the heroes you are playing against, or how you want to play the hero.
You can combo very well with a lifestealer because you give him a way to initiate and do a bunch of burst damage.
