Lion is a great hero to counter Slark because he has an aoe disable that can catch him while he uses his ulti, and if you get the jump on him, then you can chain stun and blow him up.

Lion isn't the most popular support hero in the meta, in fact, he's actually a bit weak, but situationally he is useful.

If you're playing hard support, I recommend trying to get a bit of tank, then proceeding with a mobility item like blink or force. After that survivability items like ghost scepter or force(if you haven't gotten yet) should be purchased.
